“Jesus had nothing in his heart resembling social antagonism.”
Don’t we all wish we could do that? Especially in today’s heated political environment it’s easy to get worked up over your position. Obviously you are correct about your stance! Why doesn’t everyone see that and think like you?
Let’s examine this more closely. First notice the revelators use the word “HEART” in the sentence. When the Urantia Book uses the word heart they are talking about the upper domain of your mind. That’s the domain that almost all of us are completely unconscious of. It is that part of our mind that is spirit endowed and could inform the lower domain, the part we are conscious of, if we would only let it. Most of us do not.
There isn’t a person alive who can completely get control over their social antagonisms. It is just inevitable when we deal with other persons to experience aggravation. That’s understandable. Don’t beat yourself up if you have these feelings. But also realize that elevating these issues to a level where they don’t belong is not appropriate. Even Jesus dealt with social antagonisms but he held none in his *heart*.
We all need to take our own opinions with a grain of salt. None of us are privy to ALL the information that would allow for a truly objective viewpoint. And yet we exclaim our viewpoints as if we did! A little more humility is called for.
So when they say that Jesus had nothing in his heart we can surmise that he did, of course, have social antagonisms that he had to deal with. That lower part of our mind can’t help but have social antagonisms. Even Jesus, while in the flesh, had to serve two masters. But he tamed the lower mind with the upper, spiritualized, domain of his mind.
The key is not dragging those antagonisms into your upper domain by existentializing them.
Considering the characterization of the Master as having nothing in his heart resembling social antagonism we are reminded of the distinction between the unavoidable reaction of animal-origin creatures as ourselves to dislike individuals and circumstances in our environment, and the damaging, dangerous, and disrupting consequences to self of personal identification with dislike, elevating it to the level of hatred. All of which points to the Master’s call to self-mastery. Remember one of our maxims, we cannot cause growth, but we can supply favorable conditions and we will be grown by experiential Deity, unless we use our gifts of existential Deity (personality) to thwart such growth.
The word heart, when understood correctly, can clear up many possible misunderstandings that are easy to make when reading The Urantia Book
Every time it comes up in the book substitute the word heart for ‘spiritualized mind’. We tend to think of ‘heart’ as feelings, and that is definitely not what the Revelators mean.

“As Jesus mingled with the people, they found him entirely free from the superstitions of that day. He was free from religious prejudices; he was never intolerant. He had nothing in his heart resembling social antagonism. While he complied with the good in the religion of his fathers, he did not hesitate to disregard man-made traditions of superstition and bondage. He dared to teach that catastrophes of nature, accidents of time, and other calamitous happenings are not visitations of divine judgments or mysterious dispensations of Providence. He denounced slavish devotion to meaningless ceremonials and exposed the fallacy of materialistic worship. He boldly proclaimed man’s spiritual freedom and dared to teach that mortals of the flesh are indeed and in truth sons of the living God.” 149:2.10
